Since 1969: the story of our success

RCH was founded on 23 August 1969 by Luigi De Pra, Eugenio de Zottis and Augusto Tieghi who already had experience in the sector and decided create the brand, an acronym for “Registratori Cassa Hugin” (Hugin Cash Registers), to provide cutting-edge solutions of the highest level.

RCH quickly became a reference point in the sector thanks to its innovation-driven approach, which allowed it to quickly respond to retailers’ demands. In 1973, RCH created the first electronic cash register, thus strengthening its position in the Italian market.

In 1983, the Italian Government passed the fiscal law, particularly about cash registers, introducing a legal obligation for all commercial activities and crafts. RCH immediately took active steps to offer operators cash registers approved for this purpose, always with a view to simplifying their everyday work with targeted, efficient and simple solutions.

After the introduction of the fiscal law in 1987, RCH continued to grow until it became the third leading Italian brand in the field of point-of-sale solutions, after Olivetti and Sarema.

In 2000, RCH introduced a unique innovation: the electronic journal, simple memory cards that replace the paper journal for the copy received. Today, the electronic journal is considered the standard for cash registers worldwide.

In 2003, RCH also took on an industrial configuration, by including technicians with engineering skills and experience in its workforce. The result was an asset dedicated to product design and development, such as the first modular cash register with an embedded operating system: NUCLEO.

RCH also established itself at the international level and, in 2005, it founded RAL RCH Asia Limited to manage production activities in China and the research and development of new products and raw materials.

In 2006, RCH developed the cash register called “PC GLOBE”, the first smart printer with the Microsoft Windows operating system. This solution allowed to save money and space and was easy to use. In addition to this, PC GLOBE had an elegant design, characterised by great attention to detail: an attention to aesthetics that still distinguishes RCH today.

In 2009, RCH introduced the first “touch screen” Cash Register called “Touch Me”. With its bright, 7” colour panel and its user-friendly graphic interface, this solution confirmed the company’s ability to develop innovative solutions.

On 1st January 2012, RCH founded RCH Group S.P.A., reaching more than 40 countries all over the world with its widespread presence.

Three years later, in 2015, RCH introduced a solution destined to revolutionise the cash register market: the first software based on the Android Operating System, one of the most widely used standards even today.

On 1st January 2016, the company RCH GROUP S.P.A. changed its name to RCH S.p.A. including two different divisions: RCH and MCT.

Today, RCH is a reference System House at the national and international level in the design and development of solutions that, by combining performance and design, amplify customers’ management, sales and marketing opportunities thanks to systems that integrate hardware, software and digital services.
